O 7º Festival Nacional de Teatro de Ribeirão Preto está chegando ao fim. Em sua programação, com atividades diárias gratuitas, estão sendo apresentados espetáculos premiados nacionalmente, como “O Veneno do Teatro”, “Escola de Mulheres, de Molière” e “Cordel do Amor sem Fim ou a Flor do Chico”.
A maratona de espetáculos começa na sexta-feira, dia 1º de setembro, às 15h e 20h, na Arena Porão (rua 21 de Abril, nº 375, na Vila Tiberio), com a apresentação de “O Veneno do Teatro”. O espetáculo foi contemplado pelo Proac, da Secretaria da Cultura, Economia e Indústria Criativas do Estado de São Paulo.
O cenário da apresentação se passa em Paris em 1784, durante o período pré-Revolução Francesa, onde um Marquês convida uma atriz, Mademoiselle Sophie de Beaumont, para interpretar um texto de sua autoria (A Morte de Sócrates) em um teatro especialmente preparado na antecâmara de seu castelo. Ele propõe um jogo de vida ou morte. A peça levanta questões sobre ética, estética, máscaras e convenções sociais, jogo de poder e, essencialmente, a necessidade de autoconhecimento, tornando-a uma verdadeira celebração artística e cultural.
No sábado, dia 2 de setembro, às 20h, o Teatro Municipal (Via São Bento, Campos Elísios) recebe o espetáculo “Escola de Mulheres, de Molière”. Com muito humor, leveza e elegância, Molière discute o machismo em sua Escola de Mulheres.
Nesta comédia de 1662, Arnolfo rejeita veementemente a ideia de ser traído e educa uma jovem para se tornar a esposa ideal. As mulheres de Molière são inteligentes, perspicazes e empoderadas, muito antes de o termo invadir nosso cotidiano, fazendo com que o plano de Arnolfo não seja tão simples quanto ele pensava.
O espetáculo “Cordel do Amor sem Fim ou a Flor do Chico” encerra a maratona do fim de semana. Nos dias 3 e 4 de setembro (às 18h30 e 19h30, respectivamente), no Teatro Municipal (Via São Bento, Campos Elísios), a história se desenrola sobre três irmãs que vivem às margens do Rio São Francisco. A inércia da espera, o ciúme e a pulsão da esperança tecem o enredo principal da história. Pouco antes de seu noivado, a irmã mais nova se apaixona por um estrangeiro e espera por seu retorno por um período indeterminado, causando o entrelaçamento das trajetórias das personagens em um nó dramático. A trama se desenrola em função dessa espera e de um evento fantástico que contagia a todos e os faz viver na expectativa de que algo mude em suas vidas.
Gabriel Villela, o artista homenageado do Festival de Teatro, enfatiza a importância de trazer grandes apresentações para o interior do Estado. “Ribeirão Preto já possui essa tradição, em parte devido à história de seus teatros e tantos atores que nasceram na cidade. O Festival planta hoje sementes que darão frutos no futuro. É como uma semente de Baobá, que quando crescer e se tornar tão robusta quanto uma árvore, Ribeirão saberá como colher esses frutos eficientemente”, explicou.
7º Festival de Teatro
O Festival será realizado gratuitamente até o dia 6 de setembro. Foram mais de 300 inscrições de grupos, espetáculos e atividades cênicas para a edição deste ano, com 282 inscrições para participar das Mostras Nacional e Local e 32 para atividades aprovadas por meio de leis de incentivo.
O objetivo é promover o intercâmbio de companhias de teatro e grupos para fomentar a aproximação do público com a produção local em diversas manifestações cênicas, além de contribuir para o desenvolvimento estético e para a inovação de linguagens.
O Festival é um evento nacional de artes cênicas que envolve artistas, grupos selecionados e convidados, promovendo a valorização da diversidade cultural de Ribeirão Preto, formação de plateias e o intercâmbio artístico em um grande encontro cultural.

The 7th National Theater Festival of Ribeirão Preto is nearing its end. In its program, with daily free activities, it brings nationally awarded performances, such as “The Poison of Theater,” “School for Wives, by Molière,” and “Cordel of Endless Love or Chico’s Flower.”
The marathon of performances begins on Friday, September 1st, at 3 PM and 8 PM, at Arena Porão (21 de Abril Street, No. 375, Vila Tiberio), with the presentation of “The Poison of Theater.” The performance was sponsored by Proac, from the Secretariat of Culture, Economy, and Creative Industries of the State of São Paulo.
The setting of the presentation takes place in Paris in 1784, during the Pre-French Revolution period, where a Marquis invites an actress, Mademoiselle Sophie de Beaumont, to perform a text of his own (The Death of Socrates) in a specially prepared theater in the antechamber of his castle. He proposes a life-or-death game to her. The play raises questions about ethics, aesthetics, masks, social conventions, power play, and, in essence, the need for self-awareness, making it a genuine celebration of art and culture.
On Saturday, September 2nd, at 8 PM, the Municipal Theater (Via São Bento, Campos Elísios) hosts the performance “School for Wives, by Molière.” With much irony, lightness, and elegance, Molière discusses sexism in his School for Wives.
In this comedy from 1662, Arnolfo strongly rejects the idea of being betrayed and educates a young woman to become the ideal wife. Molière’s women are intelligent, insightful, and empowered, long before the term invaded our daily lives, making Arnolfo’s plan not as easy as he thought.
The performance “Cordel of Endless Love or Chico’s Flower” concludes the weekend marathon. On September 3rd and 4th (at 6:30 PM and 7:30 PM, respectively), at the Municipal Theater (Via São Bento, Campos Elísios), the story unfolds about three sisters living on the banks of the São Francisco River. The inertia of waiting, jealousy, and the pulse of hope weave the main plot of the story. Shortly before her engagement, the youngest of the girls falls in love with a foreigner and waits for his return for an indeterminate period, causing the characters’ trajectories to become entangled in a dramatic knot. The plot unfolds around this wait and a fantastic event that infects everyone and makes them live in anticipation of something changing in their lives.
Gabriel Villela, the honored artist of the Theater Festival, emphasizes the importance of bringing great performances to the interior of the State. “Ribeirão Preto already has this tradition, partly because of the history of its theaters and so many actors who were born in the city. The Festival plants seeds today that will bear fruit in the future. It’s like a Baobab seed, which when it grows and becomes as robust as a tree, Ribeirão will know how to efficiently harvest these fruits,” he explained.
7th Theater Festival
The Festival will be held free of charge until September 6th. There were over 300 entries from groups, performances, and scenic activities for this year’s edition, with 282 entries to participate in the National and Local Shows and 32 for activities approved through incentive laws.
The goal is to promote the exchange of theater companies and groups to encourage the public’s approach to local production in various scenic manifestations, as well as to contribute to aesthetic development and innovative languages.
The Festival is a national performing arts event involving artists, selected and invited groups, promoting the appreciation of Ribeirão Preto’s cultural diversity, audience development, and artistic exchange in a great cultural gathering.
